Webinar: Hosting a large international response

February 7 @ 15:00 - 15:30

A large international response as seen by the hosting National Society

Presenter: Nancy Bockare, Sierra Leone Red Cross and Alex Ssimbwa,

Nancy Bockare is the focal person for psychosocial support for Sierra Leone Red Cross. She has been involved in the reception of international response operations in Sierra Leone in recent years especially during Ebola Virus disease and recently the floods/ mudslide operation.

Alex Ssimbwa   was  a DRC psychosocial delegate   in Liberia during the Ebola Response. He worked as a PSS consultant in Liberia supporting the Ebola recovery programme for Canadian Red Cross and has just concluded a mission in SierraLeone as a FACT PSS delegate for the Mudslide/ floods operation (second rotation after Amelie). He has also been a psychosocial support focal point for Uganda Red Cross for many years.

A large international response as seen by the hosting National Society focuses on collaboration between the National Societies and the incoming actors in large scale operations. The perspectives of the National Societies are often overlooked so the webinar will focus on the response as seen from the point of view of the National Society. The webinar will answer key questions as what creates a good collaborative environment that furthers resilience and promotes psychosocial recovery between National Society and incoming psychosocial delegates.

The webinar will be recorded and made available on the PS Centre website and YouTube.
