Community-based psychosocial support – basic training

Objective

This training, built on the Community-based psychosocial training kit and the Psychosocial interventions handbook, gives participants insight into aspects of the psychosocial (PS) impact of disasters and acquaints them with psychosocial support (PSS) activities and programming.

Through a participatory approach, this training provides participants with a basic knowledge of community-based PSS and touches upon the following subjects:

  • crisis events and PSS
  • stress and coping
  • loss and grief
  • community-based PSS
  • psychological first aid and supportive communication
  • children
  • supporting staff
  • volunteers.
  • Additionally, the training includes an introduction on how to plan, monitor and evaluate PS programmes.

    Target group

  • Red Cross Red Crescent staff and volunteers, who are to implement PS programmes

    Five days
