This is indeed a historic day. For the first time ever, we now have a unified structure representing the full Red Cross Red Crescent Movement. Further, this is a milestone in the work to put mental health and psychosocial support on the organizational map and integrate this important aspect in our interventions globally. This represents a great opportunity for future organizational development but anchored in and based on the work and success of the management and staff of the current centre

Danish Red Cross, IFRC and ICRC have agreed to finalize and sign the partnership agreement for the future Red Cross Red Crescent Movement MHPSS Hub – transforming the IFRC Psychosocial Centre into a mental health and psychosocial support Hub across the entire Movement.
“This is indeed a historic day. For the first time ever, we now have a unified structure representing the full Red Cross Red Crescent Movement. Further, this is a milestone in the work to put mental health and psychosocial support on the organizational map and integrate this important aspect in our interventions globally. This represents a great opportunity for future organizational development but anchored in and based on the work and success of the management and staff of the current centre,” said Anders Ladekarl, Secretary General for Danish Red Cross hosting the current IFRC Psychosocial Centre, when he briefed the staff on the transition into the MHPSS International Movement Hub.
“We would like to thank the Danish Red Cross for being instrumental in the development of the centre and in this transition into an international hub. We have come a long way together and the journey could be illustrated by the framing – first psychological support, then psychosocial support and finally Mental Health and Psychosocial Support – during the same period the topic has transformed from being a fringe issue to being a key concern across the Movement,” said director for the IFRC PS Centre, Nana Wiedemann.
