The IFRC has launched a new Psychological First Aid e-learning course

In alignment with the ‘Psychological First Aid for All’ pledge and its objectives, the IFRC, in collaboration with the Danish Red Cross, has developed and launched a new Psychological First Aid (PFA) eLearning course, available on the IFRC Learning Platform.

This 90-minute self-paced course introduces PFA and practical guidance on how to apply it. The course includes how to comfort someone in distress and help them feel safe and calm; identifying common patterns of reactions to crises; how to help individuals connect to further needed support; and self-care practices.

In December 2019, the ‘Psychological First Aid for All’ pledge was jointly submitted by the Danish Red Cross, the Netherlands Red Cross, the IFRC, and the IFRC PS Centre, during the 33rd International Conference. This commitment, endorsed by 25 National Societies and one State, aims to increase global capacity for PFA through a variety of means, including advocacy, training, and integration of PFA.

This initiative will contribute to increasing global PFA capacity, by providing accessible training resources to individuals worldwide, including for those who cannot access physical training events. The course will also be made available in Spanish, French, and Arabic later in the year.
