The latest episode in the podcast series ‘Think Sport. Think Refuge.’ from the Olympic Refuge Foundation (ORF) explores how sports can support the global mandate for refugee protection.
Sports are activities open to all – it’s a way of reinforcing community links again or establishing new community links if a person has had to flee and is in a new country. The simple fact of being able to join a team – to be part of something can give somebody meaning again in their life, can reinforce social support, and can help them to continue to live and thrive despite the loss of their home.
Head of MHPSS Technical Unit at the IFRC Psychosocial Centre Sarah Harrison, one of the guests in the podcast.
