The Russia-Ukraine armed conflict: Refugees and mental health

Refugees are at high risk of developing long-term mental health issues. Having endured conflict, and mourning the loss of one’s home, while trying to integrate into a foreign country may cause anxiety, depression and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), but early MHPSS interventions can counter this.

Have a listen to Iryna, a former TV hostess, talk about the hardships of being a refugee – and how the Red Cross makes it a little easier. With World Mental Health Day 2023 upon us, the PS Centre is urging policy-makers to prioritize access to mental health and psychosocial support MHPSS for refugees.

The video was Funded by the European Commission under the EU4Health project.
